First Experience of watching a play
Last Sunday, Akshat and I had the opportunity to watch a play together. I was quite apprehensive at first, as he had never been to a play before. Although I’ve taken him to watch movies many times, his response is usually unpredictable — sometimes he sits through them, and sometimes he doesn’t. But this time, even though it was his very first experience of watching a live play, he sat quite well. We decided to leave after the first part of the play. I didn’t want to push him beyond his comfort level or make him sit forcefully. My idea was to end the experience on a positive note, before he reached his threshold. I wanted him to know that nobody would force him to sit — that he always has a choice. Perhaps, by allowing him that sense of control, he’ll feel more confident and willing to stay longer next time.
