Train Journey and Social Function - Changed Mindset - Part 1
In the last blogpost only, Akshat shared his experiences of train journeys, challenges he faces during it. However, those were his prior experiences and after the Covid, we didn't travel at all, so I was assuming that he still had the same challenges, until we got a chance to travel and attend a social function...
After a long time, we finally had an opportunity to visit our hometown to attend a social function. As usual, I hesitated to bring Akshat along, given the challenges he faces on train and in crowded places. Nevertheless, the function held great significance, and it provided a chance to reunite with the family after a prolonged period. Thus, I decided to ask Akshat and gauge his feelings about the matter. We engaged in a detailed conversation. and to my astonishment, he expressed complete enthusiasm about attending. To verify his response, I asked him the same thing multiple times, and each time, his answer remained consistent.
Sharing one of that conversation here...
Btw, we are back home from the short trip and in the upcoming post, will try to share Akshat's experiences of the trip...

M. We have a family function in
Indore this month end…Do you want to go?
A. Yes.
M. Ohhk...But only you and I can
go…Daddy can’t take leave…
A. Ok….We will go
M. Ah..ha…I am pleasantly
surprised…btw, we have to go by train…will that be ok to you?
A. Yess.
M. Really, I am amazed…What is
motivating you to go, that too when you find train journey extremely
uncomfortable…
A. I want to interact with the
family.
M. Oh…that’s nice…you seem to be
interested in socialising…
A. hmm..there tend to be changes
in thinking with time.
M. Ohhk…of course, with time,
interest and perspective changes…But what about the sensory challenges you have
in a public place…
A. Yess…. the sensory challenges
are workable now.
M. O my! is it? you mean to say
you can cope up with the body odours, noise and overwhelming environment at a
public place…
A. Yess.
M. How this became possible?
A. Hmm… by thinking that I can
cope up with this.
M. That’s so nice…So, are you
training your mind?
A. Yess.
M. Hmm…I remember you once said
that ‘doing conscious efforts give desired results’…
A. Yes and I working on mood management.
M. Ohhk…What lead to this?
A. Hmm…. I was realised that good thoughts are really important.
M. Hmm…That’s true…A positive
mindset takes you to places… Btw, how this realisation happened…
A. actually I was listening keenly
to the positive things that you were telling to a mother.
M. Oh…that’s nice…So, you know what to
inherit…But tell me one thing, as you heard positive things, it might be
possible that you hear something negative also…What do you do then?
A. Yess…. in that case, I would
not pay a heed.
M. That’s good…Filtering thoughts
is a critical skill and its good if you are learning it...
A. Yess.
M. So, our discussion started
with ‘Indore trip’…Are you ready to go?
A. Yess.
M. Last one…Will you manage in
the train?
A. Yess.
M. Ok…Let’s pack the bag then…
A. Yess.
Ritu ma'am, you are blessed that Akshat is so expressive and openly sharing his thoughts. He is almost going to spiritualism. God bless
